I entertained at a benefit for our middle school on Saturday
night. It was “Las Vegas Night,” and it was held at the fancy Lexus
dealership. I sold two cars. Fortunately for Santa Monica we have some
go-getter moms who put the night together. I guess you can rent “Las

I was talking to a Neuropsychologist yesterday, and I learned
something so fantastic, I thought I’d pass it along. Here it is: When
you get scared the blood runs from your head into your body to fuel
your fight or flight response, and guess what, you can’t think. That’s
why, if you stop and breathe deeply, you recover. You give oxygen to
your blood, and bring it back to your teeny-beany.

My son has another project due for which a “video report” was an
option. The last one of these nightmares was his math video. I’m sure
the teacher offered a choice of many mediums. He could use paper
mache, a mobile, a poster with markers that smell, a puppet show, an
oral report, something instructive with felt board, etc., but my son
always chooses the “video report.”

Last night, while packing in my hotel room in Shelby, North
Carolina, I happened to catch BILL MOYER’S JOURNAL on television. He
interviewed two men who wrote a book called 13 BANKERS. It’s about the
financial crisis. Coincidentally, yesterday the SEC filed civil court
charges against Goldman Sachs, so they addressed that topic as well.
